Self
Catering Accommodation - Lageorna
LOCATION
Situated in the north-west of the island, in the crofting area of Cleadale,
Lageorna is located on a traditional working croft and is close
to the idyllic Laig Bay , and a twenty minute walk from the Singing
Sands. Both beaches provide safe bathing and plenty of rock-pooling opportunities!
We have a fantastic view of the island of Rum , and spectacular
sunsets.
GETTING AROUND
We are three miles from
the pier, and can arrange for the local minibus to collect you on
your arrival and take you back when you depart. The minibus can
also be booked throughout your stay. Eigg is ideal for cyclists
of all ages – either bring your own bike or hire one from Ewen Kirk
on 01687 482405. Deliveries from the local shop can be arranged
on a daily basis.
ACCOMMODATION
Lageorna is a crofthouse
which was completely renovated in 1995. We have tried to retain
the original cozy feel of the house whilst improving the amenities.

toys and games, and a stereo and TV.
The Kitchen has a full

The kitchen is fully equipped for up to eight people, and has a
small breakfast area. There is a highchair in the house.

of accommodation.
POWER,
LIGHT & HEAT
New
for 2008: Hurrah - we are now connected to Eiggs unique electricity
grid, based on renewables generated on the island. It means
we no longer have to rely on the vagaries of the generator, and
up to 5kw of power will be available to you at all times.
We have to be careful not to go over the 5kw, so we won't be indulging
in too many appliances until we are sure how well everything will
run. We have a meter fitted, and will charge for power at 15p per
unit, plus 5% vat - this is cost price. An efficient wood-burning
stove in the living-room provides space and water heating. There
are radiators throughout the house, which again run off the wood-burner.
All fuel is included in the cost of your accommodation – if you
enjoy wielding an axe to chop logs so much the better!
PROVISIONS
We run a well stocked
licensed grocers at the pier which can usually supply all of your
needs - let us know if you require groceries on your arrival and
we can arrange to have them waiting for you. Fresh organically grown
vegetables in season are available from Neil Robertson in Cleadale.
Seafood is available from local fishermen, and beautiful local eggs
are available from Kathleen at Howlin House.
New
for 2008: Cafe/restaurant adjacent, open for breakfast,
lunches and evening meals, as well as baking, preserves, books and
postcards.
